The YLOcare (pronounced “YELLOW care”) system provides patient status updates in real time throughout their hospitalization.

YLOcare is an environment through which health care providers (hospitals, surgical centers, physician’s offices and long term care facilities) can communicate with family members of the patients they care for. Using text messaging, email, and a web-based platform, important updates are provided in real-time. Updates may include:

• Reminders of what to bring to the hospital and special instructions
• Updates concerning schedule changes such as surgery start delays
• Status updates during surgery.
• Completion of surgery and transfer to the recovery room.
• Information regarding the patient’s room and bed assignment.
• Location of surgeon to discuss case findings with families and caregivers.
• Emergency contact requests
• Information about parking, food and comfort facilities available at he institution
